Early this September, JHC took a fun field trip to Hillsboro with the Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC), where we conducted four blood lead screenings throughout the day. After the first site in Hillsboro, we were shuttled to three separate sites to test Head Start children of migrant farm workers.
The OCDC helps over 3,000 underserved children and families in 12 Oregon counties yearly, and we here at JHC were thrilled to be a part of their wonderful program! For the full story on our epic day of blood lead screening, read on at the new Josiah Hill III Clinic Blog…

The bedbug epidemic is on the rise. Reports of bedbug infestation have increased nation-wide, and tripled in our region in the past two years. It’s beginning to seem as if they are unavoidable. As our colleaugue Ben Duncan at the Multnomah County Health Department states, “You can pick up bedbugs in lots of different places and in lots of different ways and bring them home.”
In light of the current situation, we at Josiah Hill III Clinic would like to provide you with some resources to dealing with bedbug issues:
Read the Oregonian article with Ben Duncan and other County area health experts.
Access the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene article “Stop Bed Bugs Safely”
Visit the online Bed Bug Registry to check for or report the presence of bedbugs in hospitality establishments nationwide.
Feel free to contact us with any further questions. We will be keeping up-to-date on any breaking developments, treatments, etc. in the Portland area.
